Senior Civil (Infrastructure) Engineer / Director Designate required by an established consultancy based just outside Birmingham city centre, West Midlands. The office house both civil and structural teams working on residential, commercial and industrial schemes up to £100m. Their low staff turnover is evidence of their relaxed though professional work environment, and promotion based on merit and not time served.

 

Senior Civil Engineer duties:

  • Project manage concurrent highway, drainage and external works schemes
  • Undertake flood risk assessments (FRAs) and identify drainage strategies
  • Prepare designs, calculations, specifications and reports for each project phase
  • Use MicroDrainage WinDes and PDS to generate drainage and highway designs, respectively
  • Use PDS for ground modelling and earthworks cut & fill design
  • Coordinate designs to ensure full integration with other engineering disciplines
  • Supervise and brief Civil & Infrastructure Engineers and Technicians
  • Attend client, design and site meetings
  • Respond to technical comments and obtain sign-off from Local Councils, Environment Agency and other Statutory Bodies
  • Respond to contractor design queries and visit site when necessary

 

Senior Civil Engineer experience:

  • Understanding of surface and foul water network design associated with buildings, highways, public realm and landscape projects including sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS)
  • Understanding of estate road, pavement and roundabout design associated with building projects
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, Manual for Streets and DMRB
  • Understanding of ground modelling and cut & fill analysis
  • Awareness of flood risk assessments
  • Extensive statutory approvals experience of Sections 38, 278, 104 and 106 Experience using AutoCAD, MicroDrainage WinDes and PDS
  • Beneficial use of Civil 3D
